I wanted to get started by saying thanks to everyone who has helped get this site off the ground. While I'm here, I'll babble for a quick second to rehash the point of this website, and why we're doing what we're doing.
Many people aren't used to this whole new internet thing. Sure, many of you have e-mail accounts and the like, but there's something better that we can use this for. Something that can benefit the community as well as its residents.
For many of our local businesses, moving to the internet is a big step. Hiring web designers can be expensive, and many people don't see where the gains are just yet. Worse still, some places have web designs that are difficult to navigate and end up not doing very much at all.
Wheaton Events is designed to change that. Through a simple interface, we're going to enable Wheaton's small businesses to make the jump into the internet world. We're going to have a place for Wheaton's residents to find activities and new places to go within their own community. We're going to renew the idea that you don't have to be part of a huge business to make an impact.
And we're going to move a couple of mountains too, just for the fun of it. Fellow citizens of Wheaton, this one's for you!
